Company

The client is an international Food & Beverage company

Situation

The production of dairy cultures on their site in the Netherlands is foreseen to double in the coming years. Within the current logistics set-up there are already some safety concerns (man – machine interference). Gwynt was asked to redesign the set-up for the onsite logistics activities to safely and efficiently handle the additional volumes

Approach

We started by mapping all material flows within expedition, and extrapolated them based on growth assumptions. Next we modelled order picking and forwarding activities to determine future bottlenecks.

With the project team, we have identified solutions for these bottlenecks. Last step was to determine the CAPEX, OPEX, security compliance and workability of these solutions, to allow the client to proceed with implementation.

Results

A new layout and way of working have been proposed for the logistics activities to handle the extra volumes safely and efficiently. Solutions have been determined for the identified bottlenecks which the client will implement.
