Innovation can manifest itself in various forms, from developing new products and services to optimizing processes and creating new business models. The main forms of innovation are:

1. Gradual innovation

This type of innovation involves improvements that can be implemented relatively quickly.
This may involve working with a new machine, a different type of service or an existing product in a more sustainable package.
Most companies apply this type of innovation on a daily basis, but there are also companies that only start doing it as soon as the going gets tough.

2. Business model innovation

This involves, for example, mining a new target group or market, or bringing new products to the existing customer base.
Within 2 to 5 years, you often see results from this type of innovation.
Some examples are: a plant-based product, internationalization of a formula or offering products in a subscription form.

3. Disruptive innovation

involves new customers, new markets AND new products.
This is obviously the most difficult form of innovation, examples being cultured meat or the emergence of ChatGPT and other AI tools.
